I would like to Welcome you to the Department of Physiotherapy at Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS).  Established in 2013 as the first department of physiotherapy for females in Abu Dhabi Emirate, our department is a key contributor to UAE’s rehabilitation sector.

At FCHS, we have an excellent diversity of outstanding students and a PT faculty with great strengths in research and clinical education. The current success of our program is made possible by the commitment of our faculty, students, staff, clinical, community and research partners.

There is much to be excited about in the Department, the implementation of the renewed PT curriculum that is designed to meet the needs of the industry in UAE and the word. We currently have tens of clinical placement sites across UAE to maintain the high standard and the highest quality of training for our students. It’s an exciting time in physical therapy and it is an honor to be working together to lead this outstanding department.

BSc in Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy Department at Fatima College of Health Sciences is the first to offer undergraduate physiotherapy program in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The professors and lecturers in physiotherapy are from different nationalities. This diversity enriches the learning of physiotherapy science and research at FCHS. The physiotherapists are primary care professionals who work in a variety of settings, such as rehabilitation centers, hospitals, community health centers, and private clinics. Our graduates are now leading the physiotherapy profession in major rehabilitation hospitals and clinics across the country. Moreover, the physiotherapy department at FCHS is equipped with state of art teaching laboratories. The department have agreements with well recognized hospitals for the students clinical training. The department has very dynamic curriculum of physiotherapy that meet the international standards of physiotherapy practice

Higher Diploma in Physiotherapy

The Higher Diploma Program in Physiotherapy Department is designed to offer the students currently studying BSc an exit after completion of 108 CHs in the PT program. The graduate of HD of physiotherapy will be able to work in physiotherapy sittings as a physiotherapy assistant. So, the HD graduates will be provided with the fundamental knowledge of physiotherapy practice.  

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Have a standard of knowledge, skills and technical competency appropriate for an entry level practitioner in physiotherapy.

  • Be prepared to maintain high standards in their professional life through a commitment to lifelong learning.

  • Be aware of the latest advances in physiotherapy and related fields and be positioned to engage in the expanding knowledge base.

  • Appreciate the value of research and be skilled at accessing, critically appraising and applying the best available evidence to their everyday practice.

  • Understand and show respect for the roles of other professionals and be able to work collaboratively within the discipline of physiotherapy and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Have the knowledge and skills to practice in a safe and ethical manner in relation to themselves, their clients and the community.

  • Demonstrate awareness that people’s health encompasses their activities and participation as well as their body structures and functions, personal and environmental factors.

  • Be effective users of relevant technology.

  • Be reflective and compassionate, with a concern for issues of equity, equality, humanity and social justice.

  • Have the ability to learn independently and be innovative in their approach to analysis, critical thinking, problem solving and evaluation.

  • Demonstrate awareness of the social, ethical, economic, political and environmental context of illness, health and wellbeing.
